If you don’t have a video as outlined above, now is the time to prepare one.
Your video must not be more than 8 minutes and no less than 6 minutes.
Your video must be impressive therefore, it should be of good quality and presentable for the world to see.
Videos can be captured and produced with a Mobile Phone Camera but must be of good quality. No fuzzy, grainy, poorly-shot footage please.
Usually a mobile Phone Camera won’t match the capabilities of a high-end camera, so if you have a high-end camera, please use it. However, it is recommended that you get someone with experience producing this type of video to shoot your video or if possible, hire a professional to produce it
Creating a soccer highlights video requires technical skills and an eye for editing.
Provide detailed information along with your video. The first frame of the video should include your name, age, date of birth, jersey number and position. You can also add playing history, achievements and sport-specific measurements such as height, weight, etc.
I.F.P.V.P. want to see how you respond in a game, so we would like to see game footage. We want to see how you see the field, your decision-making and skills.
I.F.P.V.P. wants to see a simple highlight video that gets to the point however, it would be to your advantage to make a “cool” video with catchy music that will get views on YouTube. Just don’t lose track of the purpose.
While there is definitely a skill to putting together clips for a highlight video, below are a few things to keep in mind.
Preparing an impressive video and obtaining video footage requires the following:
Find the right angle to shoot the video
Finding the right angle and keeping the camera steady are the two most important things you can do. Here are some pointers on how to get the best shots:
Showcase your best clips first. Don’t save the best stuff for last. Put it up front, starting out strong to capture the attention of the viewing coaches and public.
First Impressions — within the first 30 seconds to a minute, I.F.P.V.P’S coaches can decide what they think of you hopefully, they will be impressed right away. Not being impressed right away, will not disqualify you.
So pick opening plays or skills that shows how talented you are, that will leave an impression. Put the most impressive clips in the first 2-3 minutes of the video.
Once the footage is shot, the next step is to edit it down to the best 4-6 minutes, which includes 8–10 game clips for field players making plays. If you would like to have a professional edit your video for you, you can search FIVERR on the web for video editing. From there, make sure to add in other key skills that you believe I.F.P.V.P. coaches may want to see. The goal is to get the coaches hooked in the first 30 seconds, so they continue watching your video to see the depth of your skill-set and ability.
Remember that every touch and play doesn’t have to be perfect because it is understood that you will make mistakes and some coaches are also interested in how players adjust to imperfect situations. However, don't deliberately include clips with your mistakes in your video.
Emphasize only on your three best qualities in your video.
This will give you structure and a foundation for your video. Make your video position-specific and in sections. For instance, a forward could do a section on scoring goals, making assists, and movement off the ball. A goalkeeper could do a section for saves, one for distribution, and another on goal kicks.
Show 3 seconds before and after the “moment”. If you are showing an assist, include footage 3 seconds before and 3 seconds after the assist to show the entire play.
Always identify yourself in every clip. It’s very difficult to read jersey #’s on videos so that makes it hard for a coach to identify who the player is. It’s imperative to have an arrow, light, or circle, something to indicate who the coach should be watching at the start of every clip in the video.
You can include intro music or special editing effects in your video and a 5-10 second intro of yourself talking/introducing the video. This puts a face/personality to the player, that’s a nice personal touch.
Just make sure the music is tasteful and try to stay middle of the road on this one.
Here are some other tips for making a top-notch video:
It is recommended goalkeepers produce a video with a combination of match footage and skills footage.
Field Players:
You can submit more than one video; after submitting your first video, if you believe your performance has improved, especially if you were continuously and diligently training/working on your improvement and would like to give a showing of your improved game and ability. Just submit another video for the assessment/acceptance process.
Videos can be upgraded every six months to a year, especially if you were continuously and diligently training/working on your improvement and believe you have improved. However, you may upgrade as you see fit.
It would be a good idea to have your club coach review your highlight video before you submit it, to ensure it is properly depicting you as a player.
Finally, the intention of a highlight video is to pique interest from the coaches. Your video must be impressive!

Your success and the success of The Making of a Pro Football/Soccer Challenge, on our YouTube channel is dependent on members’ adherence to the GUIDELINES. So please follow the guidelines and help others to help yourself.
To become a professional football player requires more than natural talent, dedication and motivation.
You should also train with an academy that provides the necessary elements including an environment that is conducive to your growth and development to become a professional player. These academies (few as they are) must be connected to professional clubs with a track record of developing young players into professionals with signings. These are High Performance Football Academies.
Fortunately, students from about 13 to 20 years old with the potential to become professional football players, have the opportunity to join High Performance Football Academies. Although more costly, high performance academies are the safest and best option, and this is where I.F.P.V.P. can help.
High Performance Academies will provide you with professional training/development, proper guidance, support, evaluation, feedback on your performance and inspiration. These academies are well-connected and can certainly enhance your chances of becoming a professional whilst attaining a high level education, a unique multicultural experience and international exposure that can present opportunities other than professional football.
Your skill and ability will be evaluated and advice given as to your chances of becoming a professional football player. Some players just don’t have the skill and ability to earn a living from playing professional football. Nevertheless, the high performance academies match their players with semi-professional teams allowing them the opportunity to earn money playing football; a good place to launch their career.
Professional football is only for the chosen few (you could be one of those) and accepting this, will prepare you for any eventuality. As you are aware, “few players reach the ultimate goal of signing a professional football contract especially at the age of 16, and even fewer re-sign. In fact, 5 out of 6 signed players are released before the age of 21”.
During my stay at a High Performance Football Academy or Football Camp, paid for by I.F.P.V.P., I agree to the following:
You don’t know what your future holds, but you can have an effect on your destiny, so take charge of your life and live your dream.
I.F.P.V.P. does not have a sponsor or financial support at the moment, (we have only just started our channel) to offer these incentives therefore, we are solely dependent on our YouTube channel becoming monetized to finance our program. Our members support is critical to the success of the channel. So members, please follow the guidelines and let’s make this channel mega successful.
